National Service Scheme (NSS) has been introduced at Savitribai Phule Pune University since 1969 as a part of the academic programs which is implemented by institute. The objective of the scheme is along with education, service to the community NSS is a student-canteric program in which projects are implemented by the volunteers along with the community and thereby it provides platform for the student’s interaction with the people.
It aims to promote “Education and Service” for the community, aiding in the personal development of volunteers.
The program involves regular and special winter camps in rural areas, focusing on social service, community engagement, and national development.
SPPU NSS works across affiliated colleges and university departments to foster behavioral and interactive skills in students.
They adopt nearby village for organizing camps. NSS volunteers during the camps learn the bond of patriotism, national integration, brotherhood, communal harmony. The NSS has three units consisting of 100 volunteers and 2 Program Officers.
